WORKSHOP: INDEPENDENT PEER REVIEW AND REFEREED PREPRINTS – THE GOOD, THE BAD AND “THE” PUBLISHING
Independent peer review and refereed preprints – the good, the bad and “the” publishing
Workshop/discussion group at SEBD2020
18th of November (11-13h)
Preprinting accelerates dissemination of scientific results and allows early and general feedback from the scientific community. Recently, many innovative projects have started offering feedback, commentary and journal-independent peer review of preprints. Some of these, provide authors with peer reviews that can be made public and used by journal editors upon submission to a specific journal. Preprint Review from eLife, Peer Community In, and Review Commons from ASAPbio and EMBO are fresh starters in journal-independent recommendations and peer review. In this workshop we will cover their main strategies and ideas for the future, together with what these offer the scientific community.
